E2 USA Visa Potential

Panama’s Golden Visa program offers a clear pathway that can lead to citizenship and a passport. The Panama passport provides access to 184 of the world’s 227 destinations. That’s 81.1% of all worldwide destinations. This represents access to 49.9% of global GDP and 83.7% of the world’s most visited travel destinations, based on international visitor arrivals.
Panama passport holders can access a majority of the world. This access breaks down into four main categories.
That leaves just 43 destinations in the world that require a traditional visa application – the slow route of sending your passport away, booking appointments, or queuing at an embassy or visa center.
But counting destinations doesn’t give the full picture.
For years, passport rankings have focused almost entirely on one metric: the number of destinations accessible without a visa.
At La Vida, we believe this only tells part of the story. Visa-free access to a small, underdeveloped island doesn’t offer the same practical value as access to major economies, financial centers and the world’s busiest travel destinations.
Most passport indices treat every destination equally. Whether it’s access to France or a tiny Pacific island, each counts as one point. In reality, the destinations a passport unlocks vary enormously in terms of business opportunities, travel demand and economic importance.
That’s why we developed the La Vida Passport Value Index. Our passport comparison tool is built for one purpose: helping people decide whether a second citizenship is worth the investment, and which program delivers the most value for their situation. Rather than simply counting destinations, our methodology weights each one according to:
On that basis, a Panama passport provides access to:
In other words, the value of a Panama passport lies not only in the number of destinations it reaches, but in the significance of those destinations.
(You can read exactly how we calculate these figures in our Passport Value Data and Methodology.)
A Panama passport reaches most of the world’s most popular destinations including France, Spain, Italy and Turkey. Each bar shows that country’s share of worldwide international arrivals.

A Panama passport provides access to destinations that account for more than five out of every six international leisure and business trips made worldwide.
Some of the largest economies by GDP that a Panama passport grants access to are Germany, Japan, India, the UK and France. Each bar shows that country’s share of global GDP.

What sets Panama apart from most residency-by-investment programs is that it offers a genuine, comparatively fast route from residency to citizenship in just five years, with a physical presence requirement of only one visit every two years. Combined with a real estate investment threshold from $300,000, it gives investors a lower-cost, lower-commitment entry point into a program that ultimately delivers full citizenship and a passport, rather than residency alone.
For internationally mobile investors and entrepreneurs, the value of a passport often lies not in how many destinations it reaches, but whether it provides access to the destinations that matter most for business, family and lifestyle.
A stronger passport can provide far more than easier travel. Depending on your objectives, improved international mobility may support:
When choosing a residency by investment program, the fit between a second passport and your existing one is often overlooked. Your current passport already has its own visa access list – anything a second passport adds should complement those destinations. Doubling up on the same access offers no real benefit.
See what a Panama passport would actually add for you. Our free Passport Value Report tool compares your current passport with Panama (or any of the programs we offer) and shows the additional GDP access, travel access and destinations a second citizenship would bring – personalized to your passport, not a generic ranking. La Vida is the only consultancy offering this level of analysis, and the report is free.

What would a Panama passport add to yours?
A second passport should complement your current one, not duplicate it. Our free Passport Value Report compares Panama with your existing passport and shows exactly what extra access — by destinations, GDP and travel — the combination unlocks.
Compare your passports →Panama’s Golden Visa – also known as Panama’s Qualified Investor Visa Program provides a direct route to permanent residency through several investment options. The most cost-effective is real estate, with an investment starting from $300,000, which must be maintained for a minimum of five years.
Eligible dependants include a spouse, unmarried children under 18, unmarried children aged 18–25 who are financially dependent and enrolled full-time in accredited education, and parents of the main applicant regardless of age.
There is no direct route to Panama Citizenship by Investment. However, investors and their families may apply for Panama citizenship after five years of holding permanent residency through the Golden Visa program. This requires minimal physical presence (just one visit every two years), a clean record and good moral character, basic proficiency in Spanish, passing a citizenship interview, and documentation showing economic or personal ties to Panama.
La Vida offers over 18 residency and citizenship programs worldwide. We analyze not just visa-free travel, but the full picture – family eligibility, timescales, costs and long-term benefits – to identify the program that best fits your needs.

The La Vida Passport Value Index is updated annually using visa policy information together with economic data from the World Bank and international visitor statistics published by the UN World Tourism Organisation.
Our methodology weights destinations according to their relative economic importance and international travel demand, providing a broader measure of passport utility than destination count alone.
