Panama Investor Visa

Panama offers several residency visa programs through investment. In return the investor, spouse and dependent children will be offered a residency visa and may eventually qualify for citizenship.

Permanent Residency Panama

Panama Golden Visa – Qualified Investor Visa

Panama’s Qualified Investor Visa provides a direct route to permanent residency through various investment options. The most cost-effective is via the real estate investment route, starting from $300,000. All investments must be maintained for a minimum of five years.

The three investment options are:

  • Real Estate Investment: An investment of US$300,000 in Panamanian real estate.
  • Stock Exchange Investment: An investment of US$500,000 in securities on the Panama Stock Market, made through a qualified Panamanian brokerage firm.
  • Bank Deposit: A time deposit of US$750,000 held with a licensed bank in Panama.

Panama’s Qualified Investor Visa grants permanent residency from day one, with the opportunity to apply for citizenship after five years. La Vida offers a portfolio of pre-approved real estate projects and can guide you through any of the three investment pathways.

Friendly Nations Visa – Reduced Real Estate Route

For nationals of Panama’s designated Friendly Nations, which include countries like the USA, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK, the Friendly Nations Visa offers a lower-cost residency pathway. By investing $200,000 in real estate or placing a similar amount in a fixed-term deposit, investors can obtain a two-year provisional residency, with the option to transition to permanent residency thereafter. This route can also lead to citizenship eligibility after five years of holding PR. It remains a highly attractive option for qualifying passport holders seeking a cost-effective and flexible residency solution in Panama. Contact La Vida to discover if you qualify under the reduced friendly nations route.

Understanding the Full Cost – Investment and Additional Fees.

While the primary cost of the Panama Golden Visa is the qualifying investment (starting from $300,000), applicants should also budget for additional mandatory fees. These typically include government application fees, due diligence charges, legal and advisory fees, and taxes associated with the investment. These costs vary depending on the investment route and the number of family members included in the application. At La Vida, we provide a detailed and transparent cost breakdown upfront to ensure there are no surprises.

Panama Passport Strength & Ranking

The Panama passport provides easy access to 184 destinations worldwide, of which 112 are fully visa-free and a further 72 are accessible via visa on arrival, eTA or eVisa, including the Schengen Area, the UK, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This represents 49.9% of global GDP and 83.7% of worldwide travel. It ranks 77th in  La Vida’s Passport Value Index, it offers strong mobility benefits. However, Panama does not officially recognise dual citizenship for naturalised individuals. As such, applicants should carefully assess whether acquiring Panamanian nationality aligns with their long-term strategy, or consider alternative programs that allow retention of their original citizenship.
