Back in May we reported the news of Argentina preparing to launch a Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme. As of July 30th, 2025, this has now been officially approved under Decree 524/2025, marking a historic move as Argentina becomes the first South American country to offer direct citizenship in exchange for investment.
Several sources have suggested the programme will require a minimum investment of $500,000, but the official price is one of few things left to be confirmed.
In another major development, the United States recently reinstated Argentina into their Visa Waiver Program, allowing citizens to enter the US visa-free for up to 90 days -further boosting the global appeal of an Argentine passport. Only 42 countries in the world are part of the visa-waiver program. To enter the USA under this agreement all visitors much complete an online ESTA form (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) prior to their visit. This simple online form takes just minutes to complete and is approved within 24 to 48 hours, but often within minutes following submission. Other countries such as UK, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, New Zealand and Chile all enjoy this visa waiver benefit too.
La Vida is closely tracking regulatory updates and will be among the first to offer access to this programme as soon as it becomes operational. We are already engaging with legal experts and investment partners in Argentina to ensure a seamless process for our clients.
This programme has the potential to become one of the most attractive citizenship options globally – offering direct access to a respected G20 passport, visa-free US travel, and a transparent, structured route to citizenship.
Register your interest with La Vida today to receive updates and early access once the programme goes live.
There are a number of countries with established CBI offerings. Discover some altenrtives below
