Nepal operates no residency or citizenship by investment program, and offers foreign investors no route to legal status through capital.
Citizenship follows conventional routes through descent, marriage and naturalisation, with residence permits issued under standard immigration procedure rather than tied to any financial threshold.
For Nepali nationals, the practical question is which programs abroad accept their applications.
Nepal has no citizenship by investment program, so Nepali nationals seeking a second passport must look abroad. They face few obstacles in doing so, as none of the Caribbean programs list Nepal among their restricted or banned nationalities.
Grenada holds an E-2 treaty with the United States allowing citizens to apply for a US investor visa.
Antigua And Barbuda covers a spouse, children and dependent parents on a single application. Dominica accepts applications from a qualifying contribution of $200,000, and St Lucia and St Kitts And Nevis offer comparable routes. Processing typically runs four to eight months across all five.
Nepal does not generally permit dual citizenship, so applicants should take advice on their position under Nepali nationality law before proceeding.
Nepal has no formal residency by investment program, and residence is obtained through standard immigration procedures. Investors seeking alternatives will find established routes in Europe.
Portugal’s Golden Visa is among the most popular, offering a structured route to second residency through a qualifying fund investment from €500,000. The permit asks for only seven days a year in the country, with permanent residence available after five years.
The Greek Golden Visa requires property investment from €400,000 across most regions, rising to €800,000 in Athens, Thessaloniki and the larger islands, with a lower €250,000 tier for qualifying commercial-to-residential conversions and listed buildings undergoing full restoration, and imposes no minimum stay requirement at all.
Nepal ranks 154th of 199 on the La Vida Passport Value Index. The Nepali passport reaches 71 of the world’s 227 destinations without a prior visa, representing 12.4% of world GDP and 13.0% of global travel measured by international visitor arrivals.
Both weighted measures sit well below the global average, and the destination count of 71 is among the lowest recorded on the Index. The passport opens very little of the world where international banking, business and investment take place, and Nepali nationals require advance visas for the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, China and Japan.
Stronger passports are available through established programs. Dominica ranks 68th on the Index, reaching 183 destinations, 55.5% of world GDP and 72.3% of global travel. Grenada sits 63rd with 179 destinations, 59.6% of world GDP and 79.4% of global travel. Either takes destination count from 71 to well over 175 and travel reach from 13.0% to above 70%.
