CITIZENSHIP AND RESIDENCY BY INVESTMENT PROGRAMMES

Comoros offers limited choice for high-net-worth investors seeking a second residency or citizenship. Whilst the country’s natural beauty and strategic location in the Indian Ocean are appealing to some investors, Comoros presents challenges such as political instability, underdeveloped legal and regulatory frameworks, and inadequate infrastructure.
The Comoros Economic Citizenship Programme, founded in 2001, was discontinued by the Government as of May 2017. Instead, investors should explore alternative citizenship options, like the Antigua and Barbuda programme. Citizenship and an Antiguan passport would provide visa-free travel to 161 countries.
Comoros lacks a structured residency by investment programme. Those in search of viable alternatives may find the Greek Golden Visa programme particularly noteworthy, as it offers a straightforward path to residency in Greece through real estate investment, along with access to the wider European Union. This programme is appealing for its relatively low investment threshold and the opportunity it presents for enhanced mobility and lifestyle benefits in Europe.
Comoros ranks low in La Vida’s Global Passport Ranking, positioned at 156 with access limited to only 63 countries. Enhanced travel privileges are achievable through various other citizenship by investment programmes. For example, the St Kitts & Nevis passport ranks 64th, offering substantially greater global travel freedom, making it a preferred citizenship option for high-net-worth individuals.
