Chad operates no residency or citizenship by investment program, and offers foreign investors no route to legal status through capital.

Citizenship follows conventional routes through descent, marriage and naturalisation, with residence permits issued under standard immigration procedure rather than tied to any financial threshold.

For Chadian nationals, the practical question is which programs abroad accept their applications.

Chad Citizenship by Investment

Chad does not offer citizenship by investment. Chadian nationals looking abroad face few obstacles, as none of the Caribbean programs list Chad among their restricted or banned nationalities.

The Grenada Citizenship by Investment program accepts Chadian applications on ordinary terms and carries a distinction the others do not, as Grenada holds an E-2 treaty with the United States allowing citizens to apply for a US investor visa.

Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia and St Kitts and Nevis are equally open, with processing typically running four to eight months.

Due diligence is thorough across every program, and complete source of funds documentation prepared at the outset is the single biggest factor in how smoothly an application runs.

Chad Residency by Investment

Chad does not offer residency by investment. The European golden visa programs assess applicants on current residence, income and record rather than nationality alone, which makes them a realistic route for Chadian nationals already established abroad.

The Portugal Golden Visa requires a qualifying fund investment from €500,000, asks for seven days a year in the country, and it is possible to apply for Portuguese citizenship after ten years of legal residence.

The Canada Start-Up Visa offers a different proposition for entrepreneurs, requiring support from a designated Canadian venture capital fund, angel investor group or business incubator, and leading to permanent residence rather than immediate citizenship.

Chad Passport Strength and Ranking

Chad ranks 192nd of 199 on the La Vida Passport Value Index. The Chadian passport reaches 63 of the world’s 227 destinations without a prior visa, representing 5.6% of world GDP and 12.2% of global travel measured by international visitor arrivals.

Economic access at 5.6% places Chad among the weakest passports on the Index.

The passport opens almost none of the markets where international banking, business and investment take place, and Chadian nationals require advance visas for the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, China and Japan.

A second citizenship transforms both measures. Dominica ranks 68th on the Index, reaching 183 destinations, 55.5% of world GDP and 72.3% of global travel. Grenada sits 63rd with 179 destinations, 59.6% of world GDP and 79.4% of global travel. Either takes economic reach from 5.6% to above 55%, and roughly six times the travel reach.
