CITIZENSHIP AND RESIDENCY BY INVESTMENT PROGRAMMES

Qatar is an attractive destination for high net worth individuals due to its robust economy, stable political environment, and strategic location. The country offers various investment opportunities, especially in sectors like real estate, finance, and energy.
Qatar does not offer a citizenship by investment programme that allows individuals to acquire citizenship solely through making a financial investment in the country. Qatar’s citizenship process typically involves naturalisation, which has residency requirements, good moral character criteria, and other conditions. For those looking for a second passport from a nearby Islamic nation, Turkey’s Citizenship by Investment Programme could serve as an alternative.
There is no formal residency by investment programme in Qatar. There is an option to obtain permanent residency for foreigners living in Qatar for at least 20 years who can demonstrate fluency in Arabic. These requirements will not work for many. As there is no simple investor visa programme in Qatar, we suggest opting for one of the European Golden Visa Programmes which have more visa-free travel benefits. Alternatively, neighbouring UAE’s Golden Visa Programme could be another solution to consider.
Qatar ranks 96th on La Vida’s comprehensive Global Passport Ranking. The Qatari passport offers visa-free access to 109 countries, accounting for 40.6% of worldwide travel and 40.8% of world wealth (measured in GDP).
