Denmark Golden Visa

Denmark, does not offer a Golden Visa or passive Residency by Investment program. Purchasing property, subscribing to a fund or making a financial investment in a Danish company does not result in residency. Investors who want a flexible European residence option may instead consider Portugal, where a qualifying fund investment starts from €500,000, or Greece, where qualifying property routes start from €250,000. Both provide EU residence without requiring relocation.

Start-up Denmark Visa

Denmark does offer a focused route for genuine entrepreneurs. Start-up Denmark allows foreign founders to seek a residence and work permit to establish and run an innovative growth company, provided the business idea is approved. The founder must own part of the company and take an active role in running it. Purely financial investors and ordinary businesses without innovative potential do not qualify. Initial permits may be granted for up to two years and extended for up to three years at a time.

Denmark Permanent Residency

Time spent legally resident through Start-up Denmark can contribute towards permanent residence. This is generally available after eight years, or after four years in certain cases, provided the applicant meets Denmark’s employment, language, integration and self-support requirements. It is not granted automatically though.

Denmark Citizenship by Investment

Denmark does not offer Citizenship by Investment, and there is no investment shortcut to a Danish passport. Naturalisation normally requires nine years of continuous residence, together with Danish language ability, self-sufficiency, knowledge of Denmark and the country’s other citizenship conditions. Applicants must generally have held permanent residence for at least two years when naturalisation is granted. Investors seeking direct second citizenship may instead consider Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment, which offers established contribution and approved real estate routes without requiring long-term residence.
