Taiwan Golden Visa

Taiwan does not offer a conventional Golden Visa or passive residence route through property purchase. However, foreign nationals may obtain residence through active investment, entrepreneurship or qualifying professional work.

Taiwan Investor Visa

Foreign investors may apply for a Resident Visa after investing at least US$200,000 in an approved Taiwanese business before submitting their application. The minimum investment can support up to two resident visas, with one additional visa available for each further US$500,000 invested, up to seven people in total. Investors seeking a lower-cost investor visa may consider UAE’s golden visa, starting from US$50,000.

Taiwan Entrepreneur Visa

Taiwan’s Entrepreneur Visa provides an initial two years of residence for founders who meet at least one recognised innovation criterion. Applicants may qualify by securing at least NT$2 million, approximately US$67,000, through an approved startup fundraising platform. Alternatively, they may invest at least NT$1 million, approximately US$33,000, in a Taiwanese company that meets the official innovative-startup criteria and in which they serve as a legal representative, manager or director.

Taiwan Citizenship by Investment

Taiwan does not offer citizenship through investment. Naturalisation is a separate, discretionary process with residence and other eligibility requirements. Investors seeking direct second citizenship in the wider Asia-Pacific region may instead consider the Nauru Citizenship by Investment program, which does not require long-term residence.

The Taiwan passport ranks 35th out of 199 passports in La Vida’s comprehensive Global Passport Ranking. It provides access to 175 of the world’s 227 destinations through visa-free entry, visa on arrival, eTA or eVisa arrangements. This access covers 90.6% of global GDP and 88.4% of the worldwide visitor market. Unlike conventional rankings based solely on destination numbers, the Index also measures the economic and travel value of the destinations reached.
