The Republic of Haiti is a Caribbean country located on the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. It is the third-largest and most populated Caribbean country in the region. Haiti faces numerous socio-economic challenges, including poverty, political instability, environmental degradation, and natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes. These challenges have hindered its development and contributed to ongoing struggles for basic necessities such as clean water, education, and healthcare. Hence, potential investors should carefully assess the risks.
Haiti does not offer a direct citizenship by investment programme. For second citizenship options, solutions within the Caribbean such as Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment programme provide the opportunity for international investors to obtain a second passport with the benefits of freedom of travel.
Haiti does not offer a direct residency by investment programme. However, there are established residency by investment programmes further afield such as the Greek Golden Visa which is one of the most cost-effective golden visa programmes in Europe and provides visa-free travel access throughout the EU Schengen zone.
If Haiti were to introduce a citizenship by investment programme, it would currently rank 137th on La Vida’s comprehensive Global Passport Ranking. The Haitian passport provides visa-free access to just 64 countries, representing only 18.7% of worldwide travel and 12.9% of global wealth (measured by GDP). This places Haiti considerably lower than prominent citizenship by investment programmes. For example, other Caribbean countries such as Dominica, hold the 65th position on La Vida’s comprehensive Global Passport Ranking.
