The Republic of Haiti operates no residency or citizenship by investment program. Located on the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic, Haiti faces significant socio-economic challenges including political instability, environmental degradation and exposure to hurricanes and earthquakes. Investors should assess the risks carefully.

Haiti Citizenship By Investment

Haiti does not offer a direct citizenship by investment program. Second citizenship options exist elsewhere in the Caribbean, giving international investors a second passport and greater freedom of travel.

Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment program accepts applications from a qualifying contribution of $200,000. Grenada holds an E-2 treaty with the United States allowing citizens to apply for a US investor visa. Antigua And Barbuda, St Lucia and St Kitts And Nevis offer comparable routes. Processing runs four to eight months across all five.

Haiti permits dual citizenship following constitutional changes in 2011, so applicants need not renounce their existing nationality.

Haiti Residency By Investment

Haiti does not offer a direct residency by investment program. Established programs sit further afield.

The Greek Golden Visa is among the most cost-effective in Europe and provides visa-free travel throughout the EU Schengen zone. It requires property investment from €400,000 across most regions, rising to €800,000 in Athens, Thessaloniki and the larger islands, with a lower €250,000 tier for qualifying commercial-to-residential conversions and listed buildings undergoing full restoration.

The Portugal Golden Visa requires a qualifying fund investment from €500,000 and asks for seven days a year in the country, with permanent residence available after five years.

Haiti Passport Ranking and Strength

Haiti ranks 96th of 199 on the La Vida Passport Value Index. The Haitian passport reaches 99 of the world’s 227 destinations without a prior visa, representing 40.3% of world GDP and 28.5% of global travel measured by international visitor arrivals.

Economic reach of 40.3% places Haiti in the upper half of the table. Travel reach is the weaker measure at 28.5%, and Haitian nationals require advance visas for the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, China and Japan.

Other Caribbean countries deliver considerably more on that second measure. Dominica ranks 68th on the Index with 183 destinations, 55.5% of world GDP and 72.3% of global travel. Grenada sits 63rd with 179 destinations and 79.4% of global travel, close to triple what a Haitian passport provides alone.
