Bahrain sits at the centre of the Gulf with a well-regulated financial sector and strong connectivity to Saudi Arabia. Manama serves as a regional base for banking, logistics and professional services.
Bahrain’s Golden Visa launched in 2022 and was updated in 2025, granting ten-year renewable residency to investors, entrepreneurs, skilled professionals and retirees.
The property route requires a minimum investment of BHD 130,000, approximately $345,000, reduced from BHD 200,000 in 2025. An exceptional talent route is available to entrepreneurs and highly skilled professionals meeting Bahrain’s criteria.
There is no minimum stay requirement, and Golden Residency includes the right to work alongside unlimited entry and exit.
Bahrain does not offer a citizenship by investment program. Citizenship is granted only under strict naturalisation laws, which require a prolonged period of residency alongside language proficiency, cultural integration and government approval. Bahrain does not generally permit dual nationality.
The UAE Golden Visa offers ten-year renewable residency through property investment from AED 2 million, with no minimum stay requirement and the right to sponsor family members. Dubai and Abu Dhabi provide deeper capital markets, wider international connectivity and a larger expatriate infrastructure than Bahrain, and the UAE passport ranks 48th on the Index with 210 destinations and 71.8% of world GDP.
For a second passport rather than residency, the Caribbean programs complete in four to eight months with no relocation. Grenada ranks 63rd on the Index, reaching 179 destinations, 59.6% of world GDP and 79.4% of global travel, and holds an E-2 treaty with the United States allowing citizens to apply for a US investor visa. Antigua And Barbuda sits 65th with 186 destinations, covering a spouse, children and dependent parents on a single application.
The Portugal Golden Visa requires a qualifying fund investment from €500,000 and asks for seven days a year in the country, with permanent residence available after five years. The Portuguese passport ranks 15th on the Index with 214 destinations and 99.4% of world GDP.
Bahrain ranks 150th of 199 on the La Vida Passport Value Index. The Bahraini passport reaches 95 of the world’s 227 destinations without a prior visa, representing 13.4% of world GDP and 31.3% of global travel measured by international visitor arrivals.
Access across the GCC is strong and covers all six member states. Bahraini nationals require advance visas for the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, China and Japan, which accounts for the 13.4% economic reach.
