Countries & Territories Breakdown

Saudi Arabian passport holders have fully visa-free access to 60 destinations worldwide. Despite this figure being higher than some of its regional neighbours – Yemen’s passport is commonly cited at around 31 destinations and Jordan’s at around 49, on the Henley Passport Index – it still leaves the majority of the world requiring some form of entry clearance. Once visa on arrival, eTA and eVisa routes are added, a Saudi Arabian passport’s counted access rises to 128 destinations, 56.4% of the world.

  • 60 destinations fully visa-free
  • 25 with visa on arrival
  • 4 with a simple electronic travel authorization (eTA)
  • 39 with an eVisa – straightforward online access that most passport indices ignore
◄ Counted as access · 128 Visa required · 99 ►
  • Visa-free 60
  • Visa on arrival 25
  • ETA / eTA 4
  • eVisa 39
  • Visa required 99

That leaves 99 destinations in the world that require a traditional visa application – the slow route of sending your passport away, booking appointments, or queuing at an embassy or visa center.

But counting destinations doesn’t give the full picture.

Why Visa-Free Counts Don’t Tell the Whole Story

For years, passport rankings have focused almost entirely on one metric: the number of destinations accessible without a visa.

At La Vida, we believe this only tells part of the story. Visa-free access to an island nation doesn’t offer the same practical value as access to major economies, financial centers and the world’s busiest travel destinations.

Most passport indices treat every destination equally. Whether it’s access to France or a tiny Pacific island, each counts as one point. In reality, the destinations a passport unlocks vary enormously in terms of business opportunities, travel demand and economic importance.

La Vida Measures Passport Value Differently

That’s why we developed the La Vida Passport Value Index. Our passport comparison tool is built for one purpose: helping people decide whether a second citizenship is worth the investment, and which program delivers the most value for their situation. Rather than simply counting destinations, our methodology weights each one according to:

  • Its share of global GDP (World Bank)
  • Its share of international visitor arrivals (UN World Tourism Organisation)

On that basis, a Saudi Arabian passport provides access to:

  • $47.0 trillion of global GDP (44.8% of the world economy)
  • 599.8 million international visitor arrivals (42.3% of worldwide travel)

In other words, the value of a Saudi Arabian passport is limited not by the number of destinations it reaches, but by the significance of those destinations.

(You can read exactly how we calculate these figures in our Passport Value Data and Methodology.)

La Vida’s Expert Insight

A Saudi Arabian passport combines strong access to Asia’s largest economies – including access to China, together with meaningful reach into Europe via the UK, giving it one of the stronger travel and GDP profiles among Gulf passports in the La Vida Index. Its main structural gap is the EU/Schengen Area and the USA, which are not currently among its 128 reachable destinations – for investors prioritizing those specific markets, that gap is usually the starting point for considering a second passport.

Why Passport Access Matters

A stronger passport can provide far more than easier travel. Depending on your objectives, improved international mobility may support:

  • International business connections
  • Family relocation planning
  • Education opportunities
  • Cross-border banking
  • Property investment overseas
  • Lifestyle flexibility
  • Long-term geopolitical diversification
  • Global tax efficiency

Discover How a Second Passport Compares With Your Saudi Arabian Passport

Your current passport already has its own access list – anything a second passport adds should complement those destinations, not just add a similar set. The Saudi Arabian passport’s main gap is the EU, Schengen Area and the USA, so the most valuable second passport is one that closes that specific gap.

See what a second passport would actually add for you. Our free Passport Value Report tool compares your passport with any second passport. It shows the additional GDP access, travel access and destinations it would bring – personalized to your passport, not a generic ranking. La Vida is the only consultancy offering this level of analysis, and the report is free.

Saudi Arabia: No Citizenship by Investment Program

Saudi Arabia does not offer a citizenship by investment program. It does have a residency by investment route – the Premium Residency program (commonly known as the Saudi Green Card) – which grants long-term residency, not citizenship, to qualifying investors and high earners. Saudi citizenship remains difficult to obtain for foreign nationals under any route, including through residency or investment.

La Vida offers over 18 residency and citizenship programs worldwide. We analyze not just visa-free travel, but the full picture – family eligibility, timescales, costs and long-term benefits – to identify the program that best fits your needs.
