Nestled in the Pacific, Palau boasts breathtaking landscapes, pristine beaches, and a vibrant marine ecosystem. Industries such as eco-tourism, marine activities and sustainable development create niche sectors to venture. Despite its stunning natural beauty, very little else is offered for those looking to invest in residency. The remote location of Palau poses challenges in terms of accessibility and connectivity. The limited infrastructure and potential constraints on daily conveniences may deter individuals seeking a more developed and urbanized environment. Similarly, the relatively small size of Palau’s market can be a limiting factor for investors seeking diverse business opportunities or larger consumer bases.

Palau Citizenship Investment

Currently Palau offers no formal citizenship by investment programme.

Palau Residency Options

As of early 2022, the Palau government introduced a digital residency program. This is not the same as actual fiscal residency. One cannot live in Palau, open businesses, or become a citizen, it is purely digital in name and in nature. Therefore, offering little advantage to investors.

Palau’s Passport Strength and Ranking

Palau’s passport strength is reasonably strong, offering visa-free access to 134 countries. This puts it 63rd in La Vida’s comprehensive Global Passport Ranking.

Although Palau does not currently offer citizenship by investment or residency programmes, Vanuatu (another Pacific Island Nation) is available to investors. Other Island nations in the Caribbean such as Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and St Lucia are also attractive prospects with similar geography, climates, and natural beauty to Palau.
