A selection of residency and citizenship investment programmes.
Barbados does not offer a citizenship by investment programme however in 2020 it introduced a new one-year visa programme known as the Welcome Stamp Visa, which enables remote workers to reside on the island for up to 12 months. As workers across the world have been forced to work from home, this new programme provides an exciting opportunity to those looking for a change of scenery in a destination that has been mildly affected by the pandemic, restoring their work/life balance. Also referred to as a ”digital nomad visa” this programme is ideal for anyone who simply requires a stable internet connection to work and has the flexibility to be based anywhere in the world.
Whilst the programme is perfect for those simply looking for a short-term solution, it does not offer long term residency or citizenship. For those looking for a more permanent citizenship or passport solution, then we recommend considering one of the other Caribbean islands that are offering citizenship by investment, such as Saint Lucia, Grenada, Saint Kitts, Antigua or Dominica where investors can gain a second passport from $140,000 upwards.
